Sim Sekhon: Boris is back in control, but what does that mean for our sector?


It’s no surprise that the Conservatives are firmly behind home-ownership, but they’ve also promised a “Better Deal for Renters” which means the end of Section 21 as we know it and the introduction of a lifetime deposit which moves with the tenant. Despite sounding the death knell for Section 21, the Tories claim that under their government, landlords will have better rights of possession, so let’s see how that works out. We’re yet to see the detail of a Social Housing White Paper which could well give tenants more redress, more powers and give landlords more regulations to observe.
